Chair Makeover - Halfway There

My Thanksgiving Project!
I wrote about finding these great chairs for $5 each at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I have been procrastinating on getting them done because I felt like I had a long time. I work better under pressure. And now that we are less than 3 weeks away I finally feel the need to complete this project. This first picture is chair one with the seat part already screwed off.

Because I wanted to work and be able to watch the puppies I placed the chair up higher so they couldn't get into the paint. I am in love at this point with only one coat of paint! I think this chair is totally different and I just love it...that's all there is to it!

So now I have two fully painted and the other two are sanded and just waiting for me to paint. Now, I'm at the part where I have to pick the fabric to put on the seat and I don't know what to pick! I love so many different fabrics but I don't want to spend a lot...I'm cheap. I have a few ideas that I've found online. I am going to look around a some real fabric stores tomorrow and see what I can find.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

I'd like to think I have pretty good instincts...I usually know what I will or will not like and while it may seem boring I stick with it. For instance movies. I do not like being scared..nothing about that feeling makes me happy not even a little bit. So I refuse to watch scary movies. The last movie I went to see the usually understanding husband told me this particular movie would be intense but not scary...more of an action type movie...needless to say I do not think I Am Legend is an action type movie...it is scary. I spent the majority of the movie with my face hidden in his shoulder not looking at the screen. I do like chick flicks, basically anything with Hugh Grant is good for me. That's what I like and that's what I watch. But last night I was peer pressured into seeing The Men Who Stare at Goats. Now I love to look at George Clooney who just gets better looking with time. But since I saw the first preview I've had no interest in seeing this movie. I mean seriously it looks pretty dumb from the preview...and I can't be the only one to think that! Back to last night in order to not be the odd ball, and because it wasn't going to be scary I had no way out. I went to the movie and oh what a surprise it wasn't good. There were a couple of funny parts but it's not something you would laugh at the entire time. When we get out of the movie theater my friends all say they were disappointed. *Thank Goodness* I am so glad I was not the only one who didn't like it.

The Reebok Easy Tone

I'm not usually a sucker for things that sound too good to be true...I'll admit that I have paused and wondered if they really do work as well as advertised. I mean come on who doesn't want a quick fix! Like this neckline slimmer...

But now I really want to know....can a pair of shoes really help tone your legs and butt while doing your normal daily walking. The first pair of shoes I heard about were at Bath and Body Works, FitFlops. Because I wasn't a true believer and I wasn't about to pay the price for a pair of flipflops that I may only wear a couple of times to find out it's a bust... so I forgot all about them.
Now, a shoe has caught my attention again...The Reebok Easy Tone. The commercials give viewers high hopes of looking like the models. I went directly to the website to find out more information about the shoes. There you can find the commercials - which again would make anyone want to look like those models! Also, there is a clip from NBC Today Show that put a test to the shoes. I was very intrigued until the very end where they said the shoes are not recommended for working out. Basically, you can walk all the time in them but don't try to workout. The website also shows a few exercises that one could do while in the shoes, basically it just looked like some stretching to me. Well, that's not what I thought they were going to be. If someone gave me a pair for free I would wear them or maybe if I won the lottery and had millions of dollars just laying around I would buy them. I am willing to admit that perhaps for a person who doesn't not workout and who does a lot of walking this may actually be helpful but I want a shoe that helps me workout while I'm actually working out! Apparently, I'm on my own.

Happy Halloween!

My favorite part of Halloween besides the candy is all the cute little kids! We had one little girl come and tell me that she doesn't actually live on this street. haha that's okay I'll give candy to anyone as cute as her! And very early in the night a pick up truck filled with kids in the bed of the truck came by...only in the south! But because it was raining here in good old Pensacola there weren't too many kids out...so sad. So this is how we spent our night....waiting....watching for little kids...while I ate my fair share of peanut butter cups

Time for Training

I signed up with a trainer at the gym on base today. Did everyone know that it's free besides me?!? Sometimes, I'm just so unaware of life going on around me...

Her name is Sara and I think she is fabulous. I met her during my first Gut Cut class it was her first time teaching it. Over the next couple of weeks I saw her at other classes and while I was just at the gym doing my own thing. Then the other day I'm in the zone running on the treadmill and she pops up next to me and is helping this other girl out giving her pointers and has a whole schedule planned out for her. After I was done I found her and asked her how much it would cost to meet with her and do the same thing. And she said it's free...Awesome!! So starting next Monday I will be meeting with her 3 times the first week and then we will see how it goes after that. I am so excited!!.

And because so many people recommended the couch to 5k I'm going to start today. Thank you for the suggestions!! I really like the idea of getting new shoes...maybe those can be an early birthday present. :)

I want to be a runner too!

I want to be a runner. I never really been great at running but I want to change that now. I want to be one of those people who wakes up early before work and just goes out and runs like 5 miles...just because they can. I'm jealous I'll admit it. I want that freedom where my body (my mind) doesn't stop me. I am very impressed by runners. Therefore, I want to be one! When I go to the gym I usually pick the elliptical over the treadmill. But now I'm addicted to the challenge of running...trying to be faster or go further than I have. I don't try both at once though. I can run for two miles without stopping at treadmill speed of 5...which is about 24 minutes. This is great because before two weeks ago I don't think I've ever even tried to run two miles. I would like to try a 5k. There is one on December 5th that I am tempted to sign up for. That's more than a month away. I am nervous because I don't know if I will really be ready for it. At the same time all I need to do is add another mile and some change to my current run and I'll be there....at the same time that seems like a lot and nothing. There's also one in January that I am more leaning toward signing up for just because it's further away. Is there anyone out there reading this that has any advice on how to prepare for a 5k? Or that went from being a non-runner to a runner?

Ant Bites

My little puppies were just outside running around chasing each other when all of a sudden the little one started yelping and and licking her belly. She wouldn't even let me hold her! **Starting to panic** She went inside and ran into the living room still whimpering and moving around and acting weird. Finally, I saw it there were ants all over her. They must have ran through one of the anthills while they were playing. I called the emergency vet to see if there is anything I should do and basically they said to watch her to make she she doesn't have an allergic reaction. OK well that's great except I'm a bit of an over reactor and now I'm looking at her thinking does her belly look swollen? Is that her normal breathing? It's taking all I have not to wake her up every few minutes. I'm such a Nervous Nelly. Because of this I may end up letting them sleep on the sofa tonight instead of making them sleep in their crate. I hate Florida and the many millions of stupid ants!!
