This is my favorite picture of the puppies. This is from the first day we were able to take them home. They were so tiny! Oh I just can't get over how tiny they were!!! Whenever, they are getting into trouble now I just look at this picture and melt.

I have two favorites.

This first one I found at some point when I was dating E. I thought it fit perfectly and it has only become more true as time goes on. I smile every time I read it.

Day 4 Favorite Book

Day 4 - Your favorite book

I read a lot but I have a hard time saying a book is my favorite. One I just finished reading is The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. The book is about a man who has terminal cancer and he is trying to leave something that his young children will be able to look back at and remember who thier dad was and how much he cared about them. The book is based on the actual lecture he gave at the college he taught at. If you google The last lecture you can actually watch the speech. If you are looking for something uplifting and an all around good read pick up this book.

The only show I make time for in my day is Grey's Anatomy. Yes, it's had it's iffy times where I wasn't sure it was going to stay as strong as it was. But I think it's back for good now. I have all the seasons on DVD and I love to watch them. In college I would put in the first seasons while I did homework because I didn't need to actually watch it to know what's going on. I just like to hear it in the back ground. Yes, I'm obsessed!

 My favorite movie is Top Gun. I used to watch it allllllll the time. I haven't seen it in a few years but I'd still say it's my favorite. Don't you just love this song! LOL

Day 1 - My favorite song

I don't really have an all time favorite song I have favorite songs of the month. However, there is one song that I don't hear very often but I loved it when I was little and it still makes me smile. I remember singing this song all the time even if it wasn't playing on the radio.  You may think this is very silly but I grew up on military bases and spent more time on Navy ships then most children. Anyway, the song is Proud to be American  by Lee Greenwood. Youtube it if you haven't heard it..it's a good one. Here are the lyrics.

Upcoming Giveaway

CSN stores are at it again! Giveaways are happening all over blogland. With this new house I could use a huge shopping spree at a few of the 200 stores. One thing E and I have been looking at is a new master bed. However, we don't have the extra space to keep our old bed. So I'm thinking we could use twin beds and create more a day bed. However, once I start looking at all the headboards at the bedroom furniture.com site I can't help but want a new bed!

I love this!

Not only do I want that bed but that room with those huge windows.

Anyway, enough about me and my obession with beds. Coming up I will be hosting a giveaway so you can have your own little bedroom shopping adventure!

This is really all about Thursday

The house is slowly but surely looking more like our house and not just a place with a ton of boxes. Now is the time in the move where things I need everyday are put away. The kitchen has been unpacked and for the most part organized. The living room has been organized in a way where we can watch tv and just relax. We just got our cable and internet hooked up yesterday. The bedroom is a slight mess but nothing I can't work around when trying to get to bed.

 This is the time in the move that I have the least motivation to get things done!

 We painted and cleaned and emptied boxes so now all the big progress is made. It's just finding a home for the extras and hanging all the pictures. We leave to go camping next week which will be a good break. However, I already sent out the invites for the housewarming party that will be two weeks from tomorrow. I have no choice but to finish up the house! Instead, I'm here on blogger delaying the inevitable.

I attended the VB SPCA volunteer orientation last night! It was pretty amazing. I cannot wait to get back in there. There is another orientation to go to where you learn how to handle working with the animals. I have to figure out when I can get into one of those sessions. Because lets be real all I want to do is play with kittens and dogs all day...not answer phones. I mean hello, I will totally clean, answer phones, do whatever they need me to do. But I'm a sucker for those animals whoe just want to be loved!

Job Interview

I have an interview today with a hotel in the human resource department. I am super excited about it. Hopefully, i get the job and love it. That will give me the extra push to go back to school and get my masters in HR. The job is only part time. While i was hoping for something full time this will give me the opportunity to volunteer with the USO. And if i do go back to school my afternoons are free. Or maybe one day they will just love me enough to hire me full time! lol

I think way to much about things. I just need to get through the interview first!

In other news, we packed everything up from the in-laws house and are all set to move into the new house...except the painters didnt finish yesterday like they said they would! So now everything is a little behind schedule. oh well what can ya do.

Engagement

My brother-in law poped the question to his girlfriend today!

Everyone in the family is very excited about this.

Moving Soon

Tomorrow afternoon we are signing the papers for the house! Yes, it is just a rental...but it's still our house. And moving into this house will be even sweeter after not living on our own now for the past few months. This is also our first real house that will be ours for a long time. We should be here the next 4 years. I haven't lived in the same place for 4 straight years since before I started high school! Whoa, that's a lot of moving let me tell you.

We get the keys to the house on the 15th hopefully the 14th. I would like to be able to get in there and clean everything really well before the movers come. Just because no one else really cares how clean the house is except those who will be living there.

This is when I really wish we would win the lottery so I could furnish the new house with all new furniture. hmmm that would be amazing! Right now I'm looking at shelf liners for the kitchen cabinets. yea I've always kind of thought they were old fashion but my mom brought up a good point that you don't know what other people were putting in there. I think it's a pretty easy cheap thing to do.

I'm looking at curtains as well. We bought a pair of the room darkening shades when we lived in the apartment because E was working crazy shifts and had a hard time sleeping during the day with the sun pouring in. Since then I have looked but never purchased anything else.  I love the ones we have but I know other windows in the house deserve love too.

My biggest problem is that I can't commit to a style or even colors. I buy everything in neutrals. Right now the house is full of tans and browns. My thought was that one day I would pick colors and then what I have will all coordinate. But we have been married too years and I'm still afraid of picking. I need someone else to tell me what to choose and I'm sure I'll love it. Until then I'll live in the land of the beige.

In The Name Of Honnor - Book review

I love to read. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut though and don't know what to read. So I love when people reccommend or suggest good books to read! I was asked to do a review of two books from the New York Times Bestseller's list. I just finished the first one.

It was so good that I could not put it down. It's called In the Name of Honor by Richard North Patterson. It is about a military family but you don't need to know anything about the military to enjoy the book. When I first started reading I thought that there were too many characters thrown at me. However, all of the family connections and backgrounds were explained well and it came together nicely. The end takes a crazy turn! I would say that this could have been an amazing book but I was not completely satisfied with the ending. I still think it was very good. A quick read for the beach or lounging by the pool this summer.
