I have an idea...but I'm not sure it will work. The reason I want this to work is because we will be moving a lot over the next couple of years. So we will probably be renters for a while longer. But what I love are those transfers you can put on your wall. That was a bad description but I don't really know what they are made of...so here's an example.
There are so many different websites that sells them now...finding the best company will be a challenge. But anyways, I love these but I don't want to stick it on the wall for the next 4 months and then not have it when we move...or worse if for some reason something happened to the wall. My thought is to buy a piece of wood...not as cheap as MDF but something along those lines paint it a pale color tan, off white...and then transfer the quote on to that. To make it a little more of a finished look I was thinking about buying molding to go on the edges of the board and painting that black or brown something to make it look like a frame. then the whole thing can be moved when I'm ready to move it. Also, this would be a good way to use quotes in different rooms at different times of the year. I thought of all this last night so I haven't been able to price it all out...may just be too expensive and not worth the hassle...but again I really like the idea. I was also thinking that would a great gift idea for my sister who lives in her/our sorority house. Since she can't put anything on the walls or mirrors but she can hang things on the wall. I'm going to look into it this weekend. My other thought was to find a nice mirror at a flea market or yard sale and transfer the quote in it...this would work really well for a bathroom related saying.
I like that! I've seen a lot of them on Etsy!
ReplyDeleteI think their called vinyl decals...and yeah, I've seen soooooo many on etsy too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog :)
I like that idea. I know you can get large cheap mirrors at Ikea.
ReplyDeleteHahah, that quote cracks me up. One of my friends has one on her wall and she's sad that she'll have to take it down/toss them when she moves. I think the framing thing would be great!
ReplyDeleteI love the quotes for walls, I think they are a fun idea for decor for sure, especially if you like quotes. Thanks for stopping by my blog, yours is nice! :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great idea and I've thought the same thing as well because we are planning to move ourselves in the next year or two. I don't want to keep buying transfers!
ReplyDeletean award for you! http://www.mynetfinds.blogspot.com/2009/10/fridays-freewrite_23.html
I think its a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you just make a print on card stock and frame it?
Oh I've wanted to try one of those too! I'm hoping I can talk hubs into it for xmas or something. He has a thing about stickers... as in hating them. I think it would be lovely, tell us how it works out.
ReplyDeletethanks for following hopw to see you around : )
I saw on the Today Show where they took those and framed them and they looked really nice!
ReplyDeleteI love wall quotes...such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I agree that it doesn't make much sense to buy it and put it on the wall if you know you can't take it with you. I REALLY like the mirror idea. How fun would that be? They also sell these at places like Kohls, Target, JoAnns, etc. The selection is limited and varies, but they do carry them. Hope you're having a good weekend...
